The rock quartet wants to spread positive vibes through its music.

Navigating through the music industry can be a bit daunting. However, east coast rock band American Wolves don't let that get them down. Instead songwriter and singer Rod Pires, bassist Rob Lundy, guitarist Nicole Zell and drummer Tyler Blinn look at the positives of what they're doing creatively and hope to inspire others to do the same. They recently released their single, "Part of Me," which has been attracting fans from all over the world and cyberspace. We sat down with the American Wolves to learn more about them and garnered some vital pieces of info for you to get to know them a little better, too.

They Share a Name with a Wrestling Tag Team

Before the band, Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards formed a pro wrestling team called The American Wolves. And Rob has chatted with them in the past via social media. "I just talked to them on Twitter the other day," Rob says. "Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards, we were DMing on Twitter the other day, and I actually saw Eddie Edwards wrestle in Providence a couple of years back."

But They Didn't Go With It Because of The Wrestlers

"We didn’t name the band based off the wrestling tag team," Rob says. "We were shooting ideas back and forth. It’s so hard coming up with a good band name, and we were on Wikipedia and looking at old wrestling tag teams or old songs or albums. We were trying to take influence from somewhere. They were called The American Wolves. So we were like, ‘What if we were just American Wolves?’ I always say when that you have a good band name when you can say the band name to somebody in a loud bar or loud venue, and they know what you’re saying.”

Travis Barker Inspired Tyler

“In 2002, 2003, I got a drum kit for Christmas, and I remember asking for it specifically. And I remember watching Travis Barker play in Blink-182, and I thought it was super rad to hit the drums and stuff.”

They Want to Spread Positivity Through Their Music

"Being the fact that we all play music and all do this as people who want to make a positive effect on the world while making a positive change," Rod explains. "Therefore, we have that to offer. We’re trying to bring positivity into things. But not only that. I think us, as individuals, have something to offer as well. We’re all similar in a sense, but we’re all different as well. So when we have fans come up to talk to us, as a band, we offer one thing. But as individuals, we can offer all sorts of advice and connection really. But I think we’re a very humble group of people. We realize we’re nothing without the people who listen to us and support us. So we think we can bring the positive machine by acknowledging the other side of things.”

"Part of Me" Is a Personal Tune for Rod

“'Part of Me' is just a song about finding hope within yourself when everything feels like it’s going wrong," he says, "and the world is against you, you know? 'Part of Me' was written during a time when I was going through some stuff and kind of help me find the energy to push through those times and kind of have a better outlook on things. It’s just a song I hope people can connect to and find comfort in knowing that even though all is lost, sometimes there’s that little bit of hope in you. And you’ve got to fight for that."

They're Grateful to Their Fans... And Social Media

"Every day we’re getting messages from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube," Nicole conveys. "These fans that love us, and each one of us has our own set of followers for different reasons. It’s just cool to see those people gravitate to us and love what we we do. It’s been amazing.”

Nicole Feels Like She's With a Bunch of Teen Girls

"The advantage [of being in a band of all guys] is I’ve always been one of the boys anyway, growing up in high school," she explains. "So I’m used to it. I feel I understand guys better than girls. So it’s just I’d rather be around guys. And the disadvantage is that sometimes I feel like I’m with a bunch of high school girls. I guess it goes both ways. It’s a contradiction. We’re all kind of like high school girls. All four of us."

They're Always Working on New Music

“If we have an idea, Rod and I have studio setup in our house," Rob explains. "Tyler has been living with us, too. So we’re always downstairs in the studio, working on songs for American Wolves or Rod does co-writes for other artists or just for fun."

They Hope to Release Their EP Soon

"As far as the EP goes, it’s finished," Rob reveals. "We have four more songs that the world has yet to hear, and I’m very excited for them to hear them.”

They Believe That We Shouldn't Be Afraid to Take Risks

“Take all of your eggs into one basket and run with it!" Rod exclaims. "You gotta believe in yourself and trust what you’re doing is the right thing. Because when you do, you just gotta wait for the rest of the world to catch up.”
