If I was a McMahon (you never know), here’s what I would lay out at the Monday morning meeting.

With Money in the Bank now behind us, we march into SummerSlam season with a new WWE Heavyweight Champion at the helm, Dean Ambrose. While that’s certainly great news for fans, the even bigger headlines were made outside the ring. Over the past few days, the WWE has been dealing with bad press it wishes most of us would forget. Poster boy Roman Reigns got suspended, Jerry Lawler got arrested and Paige was involved in a Las Vegas altercation.

It’s not even July and it’s already a wild summer! Things will probably get crazier for the WWE with the brand split coming up; more wrestlers returning from injury and major storylines being set up for SummerSlam.

Pushing the Jerry Springer antics aside, watching Money in the Bank, I couldn’t shake that nagging feeling that some necessary changes have to be made pronto! Ask any fan and they’ll have a wish-list of ideas and changes on how to improve the product. But since they aren’t writing this and I kinda like the ones I came up, why don’t you sit back and enjoy my golden plan for creating a fun summer of watching wrestling.

Roman Reigns, The Heel You Wanted and Asked For

Two days after losing the WWE Heavyweight Championship at Money in the Bank, Roman was handed a 30-day suspension for violating the company’s wellness policy. The illegal substance he took hasn’t been released, but him losing the title now makes sense. This is pretty big news in the world of the WWE, as you hardly ever see one of the faces of the company get busted during a title reign (no pun intended). Sure, guys like Jeff Hardy and Randy Orton in the past got suspended, but they weren’t the top guy at the time of.

The WWE can actually flip this bad news to their advantage. For months, the powers that be have been trying to cram Roman down fans' throats as the ultimate good-guy to cheer for. Basically, the next John Cena minus the jorts. The WWE should just use the game-plan that turned Rocky Maivia into The Rock (Roman’s cousin coincidentally). Use the crowd's disdain for the character and make him an all-out monster heel.

Crowds want to see bad guy Reigns and giving him a run as just that, will let him grow as a performer. The guy can go, as he’s consistently delivered entertaining matches in all of his PPV main events, contrary to the BS “you can’t wrestle!” chants.

Keep him off TV, let him return at SummerSlam to destroy Rollins and Ambrose, and give those boos meaning. The dark era of the Roman Empire is hopefully just around the corner.

Jerry Lawler, You're Fiiirrreeeddd! (In My Best Vince McMahon Voice)

Here’s a change that actually happened. The long-time color commentator’s run in the WWE is basically over. How can this be, you ask? “The King” was arrested on June 17 for domestic abuse charges in a fight with his fiancee, Lauryn McBride. The WWE indefinitely suspended him with their zero tolerance policy regarding domestic abuse, and rightfully so. Fighting a woman is both disgusting and sad. What’s just as cringe-worthy is that Lawler is 66 and she’s 27. Jerry’s officially that creepy old man that leers at young women as they walk by.

If Hulk Hogan’s WWE existence has been wiped from all record books for making racial remarks, just imagine how quickly Lawler’s wrestling history will disappear. Jerry who?

Lawler leaving under these circumstances may be unfortunate, but his time expired long ago. An out of touch relic from a different era, Lawler’s commentating has been bland and boring. With the brand split coming up, his spot should go to new, entertaining talent that will enhance the action and viewing experience.

It’s Time To Be Sour and Lose Those Titles, New Day

I’m a New Day fan, proud t-shirt wearer and all. I love the chemistry between Xavier Woods, Big E and Kofi Kingston. They were able to take a horrible gimmick and make it their own. That being said, they need to lose the straps.

The New Day retained their tag team titles at Money in the Bank but should have lost them to Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. They don’t need the titles anymore. They are immensely over with crowds but what they’re lacking is a rivalry. Their promos have gotten repetitive and somewhat stale, which happens after being on top of the mountain for so long. Gallows and Anderson would benefit from a title run, as would Braun Strowman and Erick Rowan. Who knows where this potential feud with the Wyatt Family will go, but hopefully there’s a shakeup for everyone involved.

Dolph Ziggler Should Escape WWE Purgatory

Doesn’t matter how good Ziggler is in the ring or on the mic, his dream WWE run will never come. For the benefit of his career, he has to get out of the WWE this summer. If that means going to Ring of Honor (ROH) or New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), so be it, just as long he leaves while there’s still something left of his once promising career.

Continuously losing to Baron Corbin and taking on the role for jobber for new incoming talent, has made him an afterthought with most of the WWE Universe. The brand split may give him a temporary boost but the current creative team will never give him a top run.

Who knows, Ziggler’s real calling might be in action films:

And The New WWE Women’s Champion…

Remember the hype around the women’s “Revolution” last summer? It started with steam/potential but quickly floundered and is now virtually gone. For the sake of the division, the night after SummerSlam, Sasha Banks or Becky Lynch better be wearing that title around their waist.

Charlotte is a good heel, just not a compelling champion. Who knows what the brand split will bring, but a new champion, paired with feuds for various women, could reinvigorate this roster of talented ladies.
