Not on a break.

Friends fanatics shouldn’t hold their breath for a potential reunion because it’s still definitely not going to happen.

In a Deadline interview about her current show Grace and Frankie, Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman crushed the hopes of fans everywhere when asked if people still nag her about bringing back the beloved ’90s sitcom.

The Unauthorized Friends Musical Is Finally On Its Way

“Yes. They nag me all the time about it and my answer is that Friends was a show about that time in your life when your friends are your family, and in a weird way, this isn’t that different,” Kauffman said. “Once you start having family of your own it changes, and the show was over. A show has a lifespan I believe, it has a lifespan like anything else, and there’s no reason to continue doing it just because people miss the characters. Watch the old ones, there is no way we could win that. And there’s no way it would be satisfying and it’ll never happen. We’ll never do it.”

The Best Revelations From the Friends Reunion and TV Tribute

This isn’t the first time that Kauffman has shot down Friends reunion rumors; she told Entertainment Weekly last year nearly the same answer when asked whether a reunion was in the future, noting that, “It’s not that you don’t love those people anymore, but it changes. But to put them back together now when it’s no longer that time of their lives, there’s no reason for the show.”
