Say goodbye to the genre's finest violin solos.

There's really no reason for a band to announce their breakup, but that's exactly what Yellowcard did on Friday.

"I remember the look in your eyes when I told you that this was goodbye. You were begging me not tonight, not here, not now" is how it should've started (or maybe ended), but it didn't.

If they're really done for good, we commend the nice run they had (particularly that stretch when "Ocean Avenue" was damn near everywhere). Odds are, they'll be back in a few (or several) years to play some reunion shows, as no one died and the guys all just seem too nice to "go in different directions" (See: hate each other) for that long. After all, they've already had one hiatus.

On a related note, their "final" self-titled album is slated for release on September 30 and they'll be on their "final" tour through the end of the year.

You can read the whole breakup note on the band's website.
