Bay Area band Night School premieres new track from upcoming album 'Blush.'
Oakland trio Night School is amping up to release its debut album Blush on June 17 and is paving the way with a new single, "These Times." The fuzzy track marries '60s girl-group vibes with the lo-fi sound of '90s garage rock, and we can't get enough of it. On the surface it all sounds so sweet, but a closer listen reveals a less than satisfactory situation.
The song reflects when Night School front-woman Alexandra Morte felt her life was at a standstill: "During a time when I felt that my life didn't have momentum," she confesses. And while a move and an enrollment in a new school were on the horizon, it became a waiting game that left Morte feeling stuck. As for the outcome? "It eventually alleviated itself when I was finally able to make the move and get my life going in the direction I wanted," she says. "I wrote this song to express those feelings and to help myself realize that sometimes you have to wait a little before things get better."
Time takes time... But happens to pass ever more so pleasantly when soundtracked by "These Times." Take an exclusive listen to the track below:
