Whoever is responsible is still at large.

At around 10pm EST last night, shots fired inside New York's Irving Plaza during a T.I. concert. According to NYPD, the shooting was spurred from an argument backstage before moving toward the stage. Opening acts Uncle Murda and Maino were performing.

One person has died, while at least three people are injured. Among those injured is New York rapper Troy Ave, according to New York Post. Another was a friend of 50 Cent, who visited her at a local hospital. "[W]hat's happened here is not good," he said. T.I., who had yet to take the stage, was not injured.

NYPD commissioner William Bratton assures that the case will be closed shortly. Unfortunately, he chalked the incident up to it being a hip-hop show, period—and not, say, how security measures can be more lax backstage at music venues than at the door.

"The crazy world of these so-called rap artists who are basically thugs that basically celebrate violence they did all their lives, and unfortunately that violence often times manifests itself during their performances, and that’s exactly what happened last evening," Bratton said on WCBS 880.

NYPD says that it is unclear whether one or multiple shooters were present. Meanwhile, both reps for T.I. and Irving Plaza have yet to comment, deferring all inquiries to police.
