David Guetta and Tiesto's go-to vocalist has a knack for mega hits.

You can’t have a mega EDM hit without some memorable vocals. And if you’re looking for a lucky charm of sorts than look no further than Australian singer Vassy. She’s responsible for not one, but two back-to-back EDM hits: David Guetta’s “Bad” and Tiesto & KSHMR’s “Secrets.” So far we do know that she likes the feeling of being bad and that she can keep a secret. But there are a few more things to discover—10 to be exact.

She’s an Aussie Greek

Vassy comes from Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia from a Greek family with Vassy being a short form of Vasiliki Karagiorgos. After enjoying years of local success, she decided to leave her homeland and start working with  producers from all corners of the globe. “I did start my career in Australia, released several records there, it did really well. Then I moved to the States. And here I am. My sound has changed over the years, but the writing and my voice—it all pretty much stayed consistent over the years.”

Her Idol Is Billie Holiday

When asked what song or artist made her chose music as her life path, Vassy says she “fell in love with Billie Holiday. 'Autumn in New York' was the song that inspired me to move to America. She moved me with her voice. I always wanted to do music since I was a little kid. I just had a lot of things getting in my way and didn’t have the platform. But after finishing my degree I finally started doing it. It’s just something in me. Like you have no choice and you gotta follow it.”

You Know Her From “Bad”

Vassy’s biggest single to date is 2014’s joint effort between herself, David Guetta and Showtek called “Bad,” which had one of those choruses you can’t get out of your head for days (or more like years). Was it hard chasing after mister Guetta? Turns out it was the other way around. “He heard my song, fell in love with it and wanted to meet with me. Got my number from somewhere, called me and said he wanted to collaborate.”

For Her Being Bad Means Doing Good

When was the last time she actually thought, Why does it feel so good to be bad? “Sometimes it’s when I accomplish something good. Not every day. But it happens!”

Her Other Hit Is With Tiesto

No secrets here—Vassy garnered quite the attention for her club banger “Secrets” with the Godfather of Dutch electronic music Tiesto and Californian EDM star KSHMR last year. “Tiesto loved the record and wanted to get involved. Everything was very organic as well,” she says.

The Vassy/Tieso team just released a follow-up to “Secrets” called “Nothing to Lose”. “It’s very different to 'Secrets.' It’s got a bluesy kind of feel and I’m sure a lot of people will be able to relate to the lyrics. We premiered it in Miami at Ultra and the crowd was insane. It’s always so much fun playing new music to a huge crowd. And I just love making hit records. I got two hits back-to-back and I’m excited to work on some more. I want another one this year. And next year. Just keep making them and performing them to my incredible fans around the world.” Go get ‘em, girl!

Festivals Are Her Showtime

“I’m not in the scene a lot, so it’s always nice to play a festival like Ultra and see how everyone’s responding to your music. And then backstage everyone’s approaching you and congratulating you. I’m pretty much all work, I don’t just hang out,” she confesses.

Does she ever get starstruck? “Nah, I’m okay. I’m always very honest, so I’ll be like, 'Oh, man, I love your work.' I’m all about playing it cool, you see.”

She’s Got Solo Stuff, Too

And it’s not just DJ collaborations with this Aussie: Vassy’s constantly working on her own music. Is it different from her dance features though? “My own songs sound different in the production sense. But it’s still pretty obvious it’s me. The songwriting, the delivery and all that is very me. I’m working on my own solo album right now. I hope the fans are gonna be happy about the direction I’m taking with this project.”

She Keeps In Touch With Fans

“It’s all about connecting with your fans,” says Vassy, and seeing how she’s frequently responding to comments on her Facebook page, it’s apparent that she’s taking that connection pretty seriously. “It’s very important to keep in touch with the fans. They’re everything, they really are.”

She Produces Her Own Vocals

Vassy knows exactly what she’s doing in the recording studio. In fact, she’s producing her own vocals. “I do like to participate in the production as much as I can. I know what I want to hear. As soon as I know what I want with that particular record, I’ll know how I want it to be mixed.”

Her Dream Gig Is Russia

“I’ve never been there and would love to come. I do know how to say 'Spasibo' [thanks in Russian]. That’s the place where I’d really like to come someday soon.” Russian fans of Vassy, get ready!
