His publicist just confirmed the news to the AP.
Prince died earlier today (April 21) at the age of 57. His body was found at his Paisley Park home and studio in Chanhassen, MN. While TMZ initially reported the news, the Purple Rain's publicist confirmed his death to the AP moments ago.

Last week, Prince jet had to undergo an emergency landing in Moline, IL to go to a hospital for treatment. Three hours later, he was back on the plane and headed home to Paisley Park for some rest. He was reportedly suffering from a bad case of the flu.
Prince is considered one of the most prolific musical artists in history. With more than 35 years in the biz, he released 39 albums, including his biggest hit, Purple Rain, which was also a 1984 blockbuster starring the singer. He also continuously put out new material solo or with other projects inlcuding The New Power Generation and more recently 3rdeyegirl.
He will surely be missed, but his legacy will always live on.
