MMA's golden boy says he's done (and no one believes him).
UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor tweeted his retirement on Tuesday afternoon, but no one in the MMA world really believes him.
If the most visible man in mixed martial arts really is retired, it'd be a much bigger deal, but considering that he's still slated to rematch Nate Diaz at UFC 200 in July, no one will buy into McGregor's tweet until he or the UFC release an official statement.
Aside from his talent in the cage, McGregor is known for his charisma and promotional abilities. Combine his marketability with his 7-1 record in the UFC (19-3 overall), and it's no surprise that "the Notorious" has such a devoted following. Frankly, everyone other than those who hang on his every word as gospel likely still expects to see the Irishman attempting to avenge his lone UFC loss in the Octagon this summer.
Check out the tweet below. What do you think?
I have decided to retire young.
