He may be one of country's up and comers, but he's also a big fan of rock and roll.

Some of us had no idea what we wanted to do with the rest of our lives at 16. However, the future was clear for Chase Bryant.

“I knew what I wanted from the time I was a little kid," the 23-year-old singer-songwriter tells Myspace, "and I was tired of just sitting around. I just took the opportunity and went.”

With his singles "Take It on Back" and "Little Bit of You," Chase is gearing up for bigger and better things with more gigs on his schedule as well as a full-length album later this year. He's definitely one to keep on your radar, and here are 10 things you should know about him before he becomes the next big thing in country.

His Grandpa Played With Roy Orbison

Grandson of Jimmy Bryant, who played with Roy Orbison, Chase was practically born into music. "Being with my grandfather as a kid," he says. He played with Ray Orbison, Waylon Jennings, Glen Campbell. Being around him as a kid was my first inclination of music. That was some of the best times."

He also adds, "The first time I ever heard a guitar or piano or something like that. I was toying around with them till I felt like I was comfortable. That’s as early as three years old. When I heard [music], it was just something that never left me. I guess I just knew that it’s what I wanted to do.

He Moved to LA to Pursue His Music

“I left [home] when I was 16 years old and moved to Los Angeles and started there," Chase reveals. "You have to grow up fast when you want to be a professional, because you have to convince people that you’re a writer or that you have a talent or have something that’s better than what they have. And being 16 when I moved out, it was hard to convince people of that. I was so young, and why are they going to listen to me over somebody else? In this industry, you have to grow up fast.”

He Toured With Tim McGraw, Brantley Gilbert and Kip Moore

“For me, I think you learn how bad you are first before you learn how good you are. You watch them captivate a crowd. And with a guy like Tim McGraw, who’s had 37 number ones, it’s easy for [that] guy to win a crowd over. And then there’s me at the time with only one hit, it was just trying to learn how to win over a crowd. Watching him do it, you find tidbits of stuff that want to make you do better.”

And Tim McGraw Gave Him Some Hefty Advice

While opening for Tim McGraw's Shotgun Rider Tour in 2015, the chart-topping singer and actor gave Chase some good advice. “McGraw told me one time that there are a million people bigger and more talented than you," he says. "The one who works the hardest gets the job. So that’s the best piece of advice he gave me.”

"Little Bit of You" is About a Long Distance Relationship

"Little Bit of You" is about a girl he used to date in California. But because of the distance and his busy schedule, it didn't work out. "I was on a radio tour at the time, and she was out there," he says. "It was one of those stories where if you could do anything you could you would to get to that girl even if you’re 3,200 miles away. You’d do anything to get there. That’s what it was about. I think it’s something that people could relate to."

He'd Love To Collaborate With Tom Petty and Fleetwood Mac

Tom Petty, Byran Adams, Fleetwood Mac, Vince Gill, Keith Urban—guys like that," Chase says. "I’m such a fan of other genres. I’m a big fan of old rock and roll. So I’d love to expand. If I could collaborate with someone I’m a fan of and [outside country], I’d love to.”

He Believes Country Music is Always Changing

“I think country has changed a lot over the years. But when you look back in the '50s and '60s, it wasn’t what is was in the '30s and '40s. If you look at the '70s, it doesn’t sound like the '60s. It’s just an evolution. I don’t know if I sound like anyone else really or hop [on] what anyone else does. I just fit in where I fit in. And I think country music is always going to evolve from here, and who knows where it’s going to go because I don’t think we would have been able to call it 10 years back.”

One of His Fans Used to Follow Him Everywhere

While Chase has no problems meeting fans and chatting with them, sometimes there are one or two who never wanted that meeting to end. "I had one [fan] who would follow me around Nashville. That was kind of crazy because they knew where I lived. It was just really strange."

His LP is Coming Out Later This Year

Chase is in the middle of finishing up his full-length album. "There's one called 'Change Your Name,'" he says, "and that's one of my favorites on the record. There's also one called 'Bad Memories.' There are just ton of songs on that record that are really fun for me."

He Also Hinted at His Next Single

"'Change Your Name' could be the next single," he shares, "and that's something that I'm really excited about because it's one of those songs that I'm so glad I got to be a part of writing. It's the love story of all love stories. It's one of those songs that I've been waiting to write for many, many years, and I don't know. It just happened.'
