19-year-old singer-songwriter proves that age is just a number.

Not every 19-year-old singer can crowdfund her own debut record and score a session with star producer David Kahne (who's worked with the likes of Stevie Nicks, Paul McCartney and Regina Spektor among others). But then again, this Texas native is not your typical teenager. She was raised on rock, taught herself how to play a whole bunch of instruments and bares this elusive touch of bittersweet melancholy that’s essential for anybody longing to become a poet. Soren Bryce’s self-titled hook-heavy EP came out last August and we already want more. In the meantime, let’s learn more about the singer who promises to "Ride With You."

Hometown: The lovely Amarillo, TX

Homebase: Los Angeles, CA

When did you learn to play guitar and other instruments?

I learned to play guitar when I was 14, but violin was my first instrument, which I picked up near the end of elementary school. I also taught myself how to play a piano a couple years ago.

Describe your relationships with music in one word.

Hmm… Symbiotic.

What’s the longest guitar jam session you ever had?

I want to say a few hours, at least. It’s always fun to get out a looping pedal and mess around.

The most inspiring thing in the world is..?

Definitely my interactions with people are what I find inspiring. Also looking inwardly on myself to see how I react to the world. I struggle with anxiety, and music became my main outlet for understanding/coming to terms with living like that.

Why did you choose to move to Los Angeles and not New York?

At the time all my opportunities were West Coast-based, then New York called my name shortly after!

You started out as an actress in Los Angeles. Do you plan to act more in the future or do you want to be a full-time musician?

Acting was just my outlet at that time. I'm glad it's a part of what makes me, but it was never my passion, like music is.

You raised $10,000 on PledgeMusic to record your debut EP, which is super impressive for an up-and-coming act. What do you think drew people to your music and made them want to help you out?

Honestly, it is such an overwhelming surprise when you are funded! I think people could just see I was giving it my all and wanted to support that.

Who came up with all the craziness in your “Ride With You video? And who was that poor guy you had tied to your car?

The mastermind behind the "Ride With You" video was Dev Milburn. This dude has got some major directing chops! Oh, and the kidnapped guy...that's Teddy. He was so dedicated to the music video, I wouldn't be surprised if he were still on top of that car. Thanks to everyone else who got crazy for it, too!

Do you have a dream collaborator in mind? Maybe somebody your producer David Kahne has worked with? A duet with Lana Del Rey, maybe?

I'd love to team up with Twenty One Pilots. They've really inspired me a lot this last year. As for Lana Del Rey... As long as she doesn't wanna get "High By The Beach." I ain't about that life.

Is there a song that makes you cry? It can be your own song, too.

Right now the song that makes me cry is "Drifting" by On an On. They're incredible.

Do you have a quote you live by or a motto?

Um...Probably "Don't mess up!" (me). I consider it a modern revision of "Yolo" by Drake
