Don’t leave these songs by everyone from Lady Gaga to Master P off your holiday playlist.
We all know it isn’t really the holidays until large groups of people are drunkenly warbling Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” at every bar’s karaoke night. With Christmas just a few days away, I think we’ve all heard our fair share of that modern day classic.
While Mariah is probably already in your holiday playlist, as are David Bowie, Run-D.M.C., WHAM!, Bruce Springsteen, Pentatonix and possibly even NSYNC, a whole lot of great artists have made Christmas songs that have fallen through the cracks. This, we feel, isn’t right, so we’ve come to the rescue of these under-the-radar tunes.
Here are 9 forgotten Christmas classics from some of our favorite artists.
Lady Gaga – "Christmas Tree"
With lyrics like, “Light me up, put me on top,” and, “My Christmas tree’s delicious,” we get the feeling this song from 2008 might not actually be about the holidays, but this is Lady Gaga we’re talking about. It would have been radically out of character for her to do a normal holiday song, and quite frankly, we like this much better than hearing yet another cover of “White Christmas.”
