The San Francisco-based rockers return with a dreamy new song of reflection and acceptance.

Joyful, yet bittersweet. That’s the tone of "Tides," the jangly new single from The Silhouette Era. Taking a page from the space where shoegaze and surf rock meet, it communicates how moving on is sometimes the best option.

"'Tides' is kind of a triumphant breakup song. It's about the moment you realize that dragging things out isn't really doing much, so you gotta just let go and get to a point where you can feel good about it," says singer/guitarist Carlos J. Gonzalez.

The four-piece group recorded the track with Jay Pellicci on reel to reel tape at Tiny Telephone in San Francisco and New Improved Recording in Oakland. It’s the follow-up to Beacons, their full-length from 2015.
