This indie rock quartet from the Big Apple can't help but pay homage to the city they love.

Loose Buttons’ frontman Eric Nizgretsky describes their music as “four dudes playing New York-style rock & roll,” and no description could be more apt. Along with guitarist Zack Kantor, bassist Manny Silverstein and drummer Adam Holtzberg, the group—who were raised and live in the Big Apple—play catchy, hooky indie rock that pays homage to the Strokes with every nonchalant riff and smart-alecky lyric. Already, Loose Buttons have headlined the Brooklyn Bowl and supported Grizzly Bear and My Morning Jacket in Times Square.

Nizgretsky talks to Myspace about their love of New York, seeing David Byrne bike around town and the band’s 2016 resolutions.

Hometown: NYC, the home of dollar pizza and crowded subway platforms.

Homebase: I’m a Queens dude now, living off of the ever reliable 7 train. It’s a beautiful place and I highly suggest you take your next vacation here and explore the sights and scenes.

How did Loose Buttons form?

I met Zack our guitarist in the 6th grade and we haven’t stopped playing music together since. We started a band cause it seemed like fun, and it honestly has been a blast. Now we have Manny and Adam and they are such rascals.

Why are you called Loose Buttons?

We are all classically trained tailors, so our friends come to us with loose buttons on their jackets. It’s been our name ever since.

Who are your biggest musical influences?

Well, being a New Yorker and growing up in this town, I’d have to say The Strokes probably have had the biggest influence on our musical tastes. Every band this generation, from the Arctic Monkeys to us, have in one way or another been influenced by those guys. They are pioneers in my opinion.

So it's a given to say that being from New York influences your music?

It influences our music a ton. I mean a lot of it is subconscious, but how can you not be consumed with the culture of New York?

Who would you love to collaborate with?

Recently I’ve been thinking that it would be fun to work with David Byrne. I saw him riding his bike downtown not too long ago and it prompted me to go back and listen to some of the Talking Heads albums. His understanding of melodies is just out of control and on top of that he is a true New Yorker. In my opinion it is a match made in heaven.

You've released a couple of pretty successful tunes and EPs. Are you set to release a full-length soon?

Well, right now we are just locking ourselves in our studio and just marinating some new tunes. I have a good feeling that we are going to release a new EP before a full-length.

What are your new year's resolutions for 2016?

Our new year’s resolution is to make even better tunes than last year.
