She pays tribute to the artist who changed her life forever.

In 1996, Madonna spoke at David Bowie's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The famed pop star talked of how, at age 15, she and a friend hitchhiked to see his concert in Detroit.

"It was the most amazing show I'd ever seen," she said, "not just because the music was great, but because it was great theater—and here was this beautiful androgynous man just being so perverse, as David Byrne so beautifully put it."

Now 20 years later, Madonna honored her late artistic hero during her concert last night in Houston. She did a faithful cover of "Rebel Rebel," David's 1974 hit about glam rock fans, which concluded his influential foray into the subgenre.

"I want to pay tribute to a man who inspired my career," Madonna said. "If you haven't heard of David Bowie, look him up, motherfuckers." Watch below.
