Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling reveals the wizard's family history in a new article. "The Potter Family" traces Harry's lineage as far back as to the 12th century wizard Linfred of Stinchcombe, who was nicknamed the Potterer. She also tells of how the Invisibility Cloak became a family heirloom that had been passed down for generations.
"The Potter Family" is the first writing to be featured on Rowling's revamped Harry Potter website Pottermore.com, which is redesigned to be mobile-friendly and will soon feature a "Pottermore correspondent." Watch Rowling's introduction to the new and improved Pottermore below.
