In which the folktronica singer sounds like she's singing about Ed Sheeran.

Ellie Goulding is back. Today she released her new single "On My Mind," which she co-wrote with Max Martin and his army of songwriters. The end result is punchier than anything the folktronica singer has done, though her lyrics ("You wanted my heart, but I just liked your tattoos") are as confessional as ever.

In fact, Ellie's lyrics are specific enough to recall when she dated Ed Sheeran in 2014: Ed reportedly wrote "Don't" about how Ellie ditched him ("I reckon she was only looking for a lover to burn") to hook up with One Direction's Niall Horan. Ellie would later say that they never were in a relationship. As with "On My Mind," she insists that no, it isn't a pointed diss track.

“I probably walked into the studio and I was like, ’I have this person on my mind,’ and then another writer is like, ’I have this person on my mind,’ and we kind of formed the song out of all our different experiences, and I’ve never really done that before,” Ellie says to MTV. “That’s the beauty of song writing: It doesn’t have rules. It doesn’t have to be about one person or one subject.”

Regardless of who it's about, "On My Mind," also the debut single off Ellie's new album Delirium, is worth hearing. Listen below.
