During the summer, thousands of people flock westward to the Santa Monica Pier for their Twilight Concert Series, held every Thursday night. Last night, the Pier went Down Under as G’Day USA took over with the theme of “Australia Rocks the Pier!”, bringing along sounds of Australian musicians Penelope Austin, DMA’s and Cut Copy’s Ben Browning to the iconic West Coast stage. Presenting sponsor, TrueCar, also set up an art installation that meters various data inputs—such as sound, gesture, emotion and crowd density—and translates it into a visual display of moving lights and colors dubbed "Light Emotion Data. After debuting at the pier, the piece will travel to other events throughout the year.

As the sun set, the the Australian beats got louder and the TrueCarLED lights got brighter. Here are 17 people who enjoyed the sights and sounds of the August 6th edition of the Twilight Concert Series.

Is this your first time at the Twilight Concert Series? Yeah, it’s my first time. I work close by, and heard a lot about it, so I just swung by.
What’s your favorite thing about the Santa Monica Pier? Everything. The rides, food, people. It’s so nostalgic.
It’s Australia night! When you think of Australia, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? I can only think of Vegemite. I don’t have any real relationship with Australia beyond that.
Have you ever been down under? I haven’t, but I’d love to go, so I can learn about something more than Vegemite.

What’s your favorite thing about the Santa Monica Pier? It’s so big. There’s all these crazy shops.
