Not a bad pick for all of that the slow-motion running.

Zac Efron is in talks to star in Paramount's upcoming Baywatch film, a feature-length project based on the iconic '90s television show about lifeguards on California beaches. In case you need a refresher, it involved a lot of attractive people in red bathing suits running down the beach in slow-motion.

Dwayne Johnson signed on in October to star as the serious, rule-following lifeguard who is forced to work with a younger, more rebellious lifeguard to save the beach from an oil tycoon heading its way. Efron would star as the young troublemaker, and if all goes well, the movie will be set to begin production in early 2016.

Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) has signed on to direct the project, with Beau Flynn and Ivan Reitman producing. Johnson's production company Seven Bucks Productions is expected to have a hand in producing as well. The most recent script was penned by writing partners Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, who also wrote 2009's remake of Friday the 13th... so hopefully Baywatch won't surprise us by turning into a beach horror flick halfway through. (Sharknado, anyone?)

The film is scheduled to hit theaters in 2017, so you'll have to survive off of the plethora of shirtless Zac Efron clips already in circulation until then.
