Last night, director Roland Emmerich tweeted his confirmation that Independence Day original cast member Vivica A. Fox will be returning for the sequel.

One snafu? As announced previously, her onscreen husband Will Smith will not be reprising his role as the charismatic Captain Steven Hiller (apparently because Smith's "too expensive"). However, other key actors, such as Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum, will be coming back for some more extraterrestial kickassery. Joining the returning stars will be Charlotte Gainsbourg and Liam Hemsworth. 

Independence Day was released in July 1996 and pulled in over $817 million at the box office.

Independence Day 2 is set to open in theaters on June 24, 2016.
