Aphex Twin is anything but predictable. Last night the influential electronic musician released "T17 Phase Out" to SoundCloud, despite initial reservations. "i prolly i shntnde downoied thi coz im drunki m ena uploaded.." is the caption, verbatim, which translates roughly to "I prolly shouldn't download this 'cause I'm drunk, I mean uploaded." He had also waited 13 years to drop 2014's Caustic Window and Syro, so for him to only wait a year this time to follow that up was unexpected, too. The only non-surprise with "T17 Phase Out" is that it's classic Aphex Twin—glitchy electronica with a sense of foreboding, where you're unsure whether to hit the dance floor or run away. Listen below.
