What will this former SoundCloud exec do differently? He isn't sure yet.
TIDAL has named its new CEO. Jeff Feig, former Muve Music and SoundCloud exec, will take over Jay Z's streaming service in January 2016.
Jeff is the third CEO that TIDAL has named in less than a year (it launched in March), which has added to this perception that it is struggling to stay afloat. But in a new interview with Billboard, he insists that he has plenty of assets to work with: A million-plus subscribers. The backing of A-list artists. The option of hi-fi streaming. Live events like TIDALX20.
He isn't sure yet what he would change of TIDAL. "Until I get into the business and can roll up my sleeves with my team, I don't know exactly how we're going to [determine] the best opportunities for us to chase," he says. He does mention the possibility of "something that connects fans with the artists they love in new ways," which, sure.
All Jeff seems to know is that Jay Z is in this streaming service game for the long haul. "This isn't a short-term play," he says. "This is a long-term investment."
