In which she talks feminism and Rihanna's "Bitch Better Have My Money" video.

Charli XCX is a feminist. She believes that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities—a simple concept. But like so many female artists in pop, from Beyoncé to Miley Cyrus, she often has her feminism questioned because of how she either embraces her girlishness or doesn't portray herself as a role model.

Charli XCX expands on this conflict in her new BBC documentary The F-Word and Me. "I don't really care about people who ask me what type of feminist I am or if I think it's valid for me to be a feminist because I wear a short skirt," she says. "I think that's just a stupid, stupid, stupid conversation that is, like, pointless."

Despite the title, The F-Word and Me isn't just about her. Marina and the Diamonds, Ryn Weaver, Hannah Diamond and LIZ also talk their relationship with feminism. About halfway through the film, Charli offers her take on Rihanna's "Bitch Better Have My Money" video, which was initially criticized for its female-on-female violence.

"Rihanna is dismantling the idea of what a pop star should be," she says, before she calls the video "a powerful statement of intent: You can't push me around, and you can't make me be what I am not."
