These games will be just as they were in the '90s, save for an important update.

Gotta catch 'em all. Nintendo announced that it will re-release Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow games as 3DS downloads on February 27, 2016.

Nintendo of America's director of product marketing Bill Trinen says the games will appear just as they did in their '90s American release, when Japan's Red and Green games were rebranded as Red and Blue. There is just one important update: Instead of using link cables to battle and trade Pokémon with other players, 3DS users will be able to do this with a wireless functionality.

Remember, the original Pokémon games spawned a card trading game, a TV series, a movie and the Pokémon Jet. Skip to 36:30 to hear more about Nintendo's re-release.
