This is an actual collaboration between the K-Pop group and 'Force Awakens.'

The Force is with EXO. The K-pop boy band dropped a single to promote Korea's December 17 theatrical release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. With its bass drop and earnest R&B vocals, "Lightsaber" is the sort of dance track that Justin Bieber did several years ago, only with a better hook—"Light, light-light-light, lightsaber."

The video's nods to Star Wars are even subtler, with its "JEDI ONLY" pub where concealed lightsabers are prohibited.

Kai, the first EXO member to sign to its label SM Entertainment, isn't sure why Disney wanted to work with a K-pop group. "Its an honor," he said on KBS2's Entertainment Weekly (via Soompi). "But honestly, I don't know the reason why we were chosen. Even without us doing anything, isn't it an incredibly popular movie already?"

EXO's crossover appeal may be a factor. In April, its Exodus LP sold 6,000 copies in America during its first week—a new sales record for a K-pop group
