This is how author Stephanie Meyers celebrates her novel turning 10.
Imagine if Twilight's Bella was a boy and Edward was a girl. That is what author Stephanie Meyer did for the 10th anniversary edition of her best-selling vampire romance.
Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined swaps Bella and Edward's genders—Bella is now Beau, while Edward is Edythe—to prove a large point: Bella isn't this stereotypical damsel in distress, as some critics said, but a "human in distress" as she tells Entertainment Weekly.
While Stephanie tweaked Beau and Edythe's personalities to reflect the gender swap, she says this wasn't a difficult or time-consuming process. "It's just a love story. It doesn't matter who's the boy and who's the girl," she said on Good Morning America—watch below.
