  • Once again, Breeder have knocked it out of the park with the titles they have produced for this year's Analogue/Digital conference.

This is the third time Breeder’s been invited to create the opening titles for Analogue/Digital. They took the idea of blending the real and digital to a new place. With yet another amazing track to work from, thanks to the insanely-talented Alabaster, and taking inspiration from mathematical parabolas, they built rigs, threaded them with string, then filmed it all with a tonne of different lights. The concept was to show how the boundary between the real and digital worlds have become so blurred, they’re as intertwined as the lines that represent them.

Absolutely phenomenal and we are proud to have worked with such an amazing team; thanks Breeder!

  • Who is Jane Fender?

Mysterious and alluring, Jane Fender is a global ideas coalition with members active in fashion, brand, music, visual arts and strategic thought.

Thanks to these fine folk, as well as Art Park and Linnaeus Estate, legendary graphic designer & art director David Carson will be coming to our shores to share his history, as well as his thoughts and ideas about the design landscape (and I’m sure he would like to catch some waves too).

Happening in Byron Bay in October, tickets are now on sale; so if you aren’t in Sydney or Adelaide, I would highly recommend attending this event.

  • Imagine finding out that someone in your family has an unknown talent they haven’t spoken about in years. That is what happened to The Art Park’s Craig Rochfort and subsequently sparked the idea for ‘Single 12 Months’.

‘Single 12 Months’ is the result of Rochfort recently discovering his father’s talent for photography, revealed in a series of historic photographs taken during a year long trip to the USA in 1959.

These beautifully shot images taken by G. G. Rochfort are a snapshot of American life, depicting the country at the turn of the decade.

Rochfort has headed to Kickstarter to fund the restoration, digitisation and preservation of these photographs, as well as the publishing of them into a hardcover collection.

The rewards for pledges are fantastic, so help out this local legend and head over to Kickstarter now and give some support for this excellent initiative!

  • A core philosophy at A/D is to give more than we take. One of the ways we implement this ethos is to give each University or Design College the opportunity to nominate one student to join the A/D team free of charge for the duration of the event.

In most cases, a successful applicant will be required to roll up their sleeves in assisting the A/D team, setting up and managing the event at a fundamental level. The tasks are simple, yet critical to the success of the event.

If you want to be a part of the team for Sydney or Adelaide in October, head over to the A/D site for all the details.

If you don’t visit Vimeo’s Staff Picks on the reg like us, you are missing out on some quality films. The latest find is a short doco by creative agency Juliet Zulu on the grassroots sport of Rigsketball.
Conceptualised by Bim Ditson, the origins of Rigsketball are hazy, but Bim simply wanted to play basketball but knew no basketball teams but know a lot of bands. From there, a community grew amongst the music community in Portland and Rigsketball now is an annual tournament, with 32 bands competing to win.

  • Once again on the regular travels through the Interweb, I came across a rather striking image of a golden snake in the shape of an ampersand. My interest piqued, I delved further to ascertain who created this image, discovering it was a sculpture by German designer and artist, Hedi Xandt.

Don’t just take my word for it, go and peep his work! It truly is fascinating and impressive.
