BACKGROUNDAlan Frew is a contemporary nu folk artist from Troon, Ayrshire in the west coast of Scotland.
Begining his career as guitarist/ backing vocalist Frew played with local acts The Kytes, Southbeach and Jill Jackson and in that time supported Paolo Nutini, Texas and Albert Lee playing venues all over the country including T in the Park, Celtic Park, King Tuts, The Mean Fiddler, the Troubadour and Kirkmichael International Guitar Festival.

DEBUT ALBUM

At the beginning of 2010 Frew released his debut album Go Easy which was very well recieved by the major press and given 4 star reviews by the Sunday Mail, Sunday Express and Sunday Herald as well as being pick of the month in Music News Scotland.

TOURS 2010/2011

Since going solo Frew has toured in the UK, Holland, Germany and New York touring 3 weeks consecutively with the Liberty Tour and promoting each gig with BBC radio interviews. Not to mention appearances at Truck Fest, Belladrum, Wizard Fest, Merchant City Festival, Northern Roots, Wessex Folk Festival and Live@Troon Festival.

The first track featured on the debut Go Easy, Running Blind has been played on Jim Gellatly's Amazing radio and BBC radio throughout the uk. After ending last year on a high with a sell out gig at Brel and a support to Martin Taylor at Troon Festival.

2012

Alan was asked to appear both nights at the Gerry Rafferty Remembered tribute at the Royal Concert Hall to accompany The Raffertys on guitar and vocals. Also on the lineup were The Proclaimers, Jack bruce and Ron Sexsmith and Emma Pollock. Both nights sold out and The full concert was shown on BBC2 and was one of the main events of Celtic Connections.

Alan is currently working with Mark Rafferty on a new album which will feature songs and collaborations by both artists.

December 2012 saw the release of brand new single Mary Go which is available on www.alanfrew.bandcamp.com/track/mary-go

2013 went off to a great stars with a gig on the Danny Kyle stage at this years Celtic Connections. Following thatAlan travelled north to perform some gigs up in the Highlands of Scotland and then a UK tour in the Spring following the physical release of new single Mary Go. The tour included gigs at The Cavern Liverpool, The Bedford London, Birmingham, Cardiff and finished up in Glasgow for a headline homecoming gig at the Roxy. Festival appearances year included Wickerman, Belladrum, Eden Fest, Celtic Connections, Lomond Fest and a Saturday night mainstage show at Arran Folk Festival with Mark Rafferty.

2014

March this year kicked off with a tour of The Netherlands including a spot on Dutch National TV and Radio performing new song Living The Dream which will soon be available on bandcamp and as part of a new Americana/Celtic compilation of Scots artists entitled Caledoniasville.

One special gig to look out for next month will be The Gerry Rafferty Concert at Paisley Town hall on April 16th with Martha Rafferty. Tickets sold out within an hour and a half of announcement.
