ABSOLVE officially rose from Montreal’s metal scene back in 2005, and has since created a distinctive name for themselves with their riotous blast beats, pulsating double-bass, thrashy guitar riffs, and impressive vocals that sets them apart from the typical thrash/death metal that envelopes the city’s underground metal scene.
In 2006, founding members Jean-Michel Tannous, Marc Thibeault, and Pierre Le Corroller recruited the vicious screams of Jeff Linstead (CALL THE COBRA, ex-FORISGMA) and in 2007, Absolve took on the thundering bass beats of Samuel Dufour (PHOBOCOSM, TORN WITHIN, ex-VENGEFUL) who has been entrenched in Montreal’s metal scene for many years.
Gathering influences from CANNIBAL CORPSE, SLAYER, FEAR FACTORY, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, PANTERA, and many others, ABSOLVE is a force to be reckoned with, offering unique riffs that keep their fans craving for more. On the surface, ABSOLVE would like their band to be interpreted by those who listen and read their message in the lyrics, whatever the outcome. Alternatively, ‘Absolve’ is the want of forgiveness for rebelling against dictatorial authority, forgiveness for giving way to a society that controls us before we are born, and forgiveness for all who just don’t give a damn. Created to compose simple yet vivid riffs with a lot of groove, ABSOLVE is an arrangement of new and old influences perfected and ready to assault anyone who defies the system and is ready for a new movement.
Their first upcoming EP, “Sadistic Crown”, was mixed and mastered at Silver Wings Studios and produced by Kim Gosselin (BLACKGUARD). Capturing the same theme of rebelliousness, “Sadistic Crown” offers the listener a chance to observe the consequences of despotic authority, overwhelming ignorance, addiction in the eyes of vice itself, and misguided aggression. With such brutal talent come performances that have since shook audiences to the core and will continue to do so.
