She began her musical career writing and playing guitar for the band Soliloquy. She gigged in and around Boston before moving to Ohio, where she studied Political Science at Antioch College. She is influenced by a variety of artists including Maynard J. Kennan of Tool, Melissa Ferrick, Ani Difranco, Tori Amos, 7 Year Bitch, and Tom Waits. At times through the years her pen for poetry fell by the wayside, but not anymore. Waking at around 3 a.m. each morning, she begins to write. And write. Aminah has resurrected the words from within her here in her first solo full-length album. She and her Ovation Guitar are back with emotive notes and stirring lyrics.
