Drink up me hearties, yo ho!
Although it seems like the year has only just begun, 2017 is flying by faster than expected and each day seems a bit easier than the last. That is, until something political happens that impacts the lives of millions. Luckily, this weekend gave way to none of that, leaving us free to squee at the prospect of more box office magic and the new found happiness of one of Hollywood’s most watched celebrities. Here’s what you missed over the weekend.
Pirates of the Caribbean 5
Disney released a new, 30-second trailer for the upcoming addition to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Dead Men Tell No Tales, and they’re giving us even more reason to get excited. It’s been 10 years since Will Turner took command of the Dutchman from Davy Jones in 2007’s At World’s End, leaving behind his wife and son to live out his eternal curse as the ship’s captain, but Orlando Bloom is back to reprise his role as the handsome blacksmith-turned-pirate captain. Time hasn’t been so good to Turner, as he now looks as if he’s “Part of the ship, part of the crew,” half covered in barnacles, seaweed and starfish.
Though the trailer isn’t the first look we’re getting of the newest Pirates installment, it is the first time that the sneak peeks take a more serious approach. Shifting away from the zany antics of Jack Sparrow, it focuses more on underlying story development, including the quest revolving around Javier Bardem’s ghostly, new character, Armando Salazar of the Spanish Royal Navy. Salazar is hellbent on killing every pirate, including Sparrow, so we’ll get to see how he and Turner fare this epic tale. Get excited — May 26 is just around the corner.
