   About Z-Axis
Post-progressive rock; new-edge ambience; psychedelia with a world-beat flavor; synths, guitars and percussion; funky, frenetic jams; eclectic instrumental soundtracks to surreal multi-media experiences.

Formed in 1997 to perform the music for the multi-media production Reality Check, Z-Axis soon discovered a unique chemistry and decided to use the band as a vehicle to push the frontiers of their own musical expressions. Their music ranges from structured suites to extended improvisations. They are primarily instrumental, with a few vocal numbers to keep things interesting. Their shows range from informal jams to elaborate multi-media events.

Man, I am such a sucker for classic 70s synth sounds, all that swooshing, blurting, percolating analog asteroid dust, I can't get enough of it. You guys are experts at sprinkling that mushroom mist. Plus, you have the nerve to be a (largely) instrumental rock band in America that could care less about basing everything they do on a watered down snippet of Crimson's "Larks Tongue in Aspic Part II" and calling it "math rock." On the other hand, I would never mistake you for Ozric T., 'cos I can detect a bit of blues here and there between the lines. Edgar Froese should present you with one of those old school sequencers that were so vital to mid-period T. Dream so you could kick it deep on top of that sawtooth shit!
