You Make Engine is an amazing Austin band...The band comes off like an easy-to-swallow Pretty Girls Make Graves with a piano. They play with song structure in several interesting ways and are able to successfully pull off fun electronic waves of intensity and irony-free dance rock. The boy/girl dynamic works especially well with the group as the snobby male Guttermouth vocals are quickly soothed out by The Anniversary female vocals. The combination is bound to be a blast live.

...I got to hear some of their adorable spacey pop gold. And they were one of the nicest bands I've ever met. Therefore, I had to get an interview with them. What is awesome is every new song is a step up from the other songs. I can't wait for them to record again. You must see this band live.

Hey, kids! If you are coming to the Parlor tonight (and even if you are not) there will be an afterparty @ my place w/ lots of margaritas and yummy snacks! Also, Caleb & Hannah, I have your record and tupperware bowl from the fruit and 45 party (thanks again for the awesome peaches!)So remind me if you come by :) xoxoxo Stacy
I wanted to publicly apologize for the fact that my nit-pickyness and inability to pick one guitar sound and go with it. both have been prime causes for the outrageous delays in recording the forthcoming "everyone dances or nobody dances". I would like to assure everyone that I am working earnestly, and as soon as I acquire that nuclear submarine, and a liquid oxygen isolation chamber, I will be re-re-re-re-re-re-re-recording my guitar parts once again. Or I will just be over at Justin's if you need to find me. Really, either way, the guitars are almost done, for real this time. I promise.
You Make Engine's newly released track 'Walter's on Washington'
has landed on MySpace and all of our lives are going to be very different starting...now.
When asked about this song's unprecedented heaviness, Kaleb 'Crawdad' Asplund replied '...it's heavier with a bit more upfront synths than our other stuff'. Also, when asked about the persistent breakup rumors that
seem to constantly surround the band, Kaleb replied: "...it's heavier with a bit more upfront synths than our other stuff".
However you choose to read that is up to you.
At least for now, we have one more reason not to pour rubber cement in our ears.
i hate to see your broken face
this world would give you anything
as long as you will want to
as long as you will want to
i hate your state of hopelessness
and that vain articulateness
your loser type wreck wanna be
not a pretty sight really
in another world it'd be funny
i hate to see your broken face
a lazy life of fatal waste
of fashionable cynicism
the poison they want you to drink
oh no man that's too easy
oh no man that's too easy
we weren't talking bout happiness
apply your leading potential
to be useful to this planet
the world would give you anything
as long as you will want to
as long as you will want to
