About me:
I am a PROUD Victorian NURSE. We fought hard, we had our pay docked - despite the fact we turned up and worked just as hard!!! But thanks to the support of the community of Victoria and the other Unions of Victoria - and most of all the NURSES of Victoria we won the fight, and set a precedent for the next profession that has to negotiate it's EBA.
We still don't have a staff toilet, or shower, or food available after hours on our campus of 60 acres. There is STILL almost no parking for staff due to management not giving a shit about us the workers, but we got what we asked for (well a reasonable amount of it) from the state Government for our EBA. Now we (at my job) just have to fight our tight arse employer!! (for the above)
We are still fighting for the docked pay of the nurses who suffered this fate - but that is also individual employer related, not state Government.
But the best bit of the whole thing is- we got them (the government) to remove the 50% rule - The ratios for a normal hospital ward is one nurse to 4 patients, previously if they had 2 more patients admitted they could just get away with it and make the staff cope with the extra workload, until they went above that 50% margin to 3 patients. NOW thankfully even ONE extra patient means they have to give us more staff!! YAY They have till early next year to employ enough staff to fix this problem, but I am just so thankful it has been fixed - we are no longer abused!!!
They built all the new buildings on the campus I work on specifically with a certain number of beds per ward to abuse that 50% rule - well go jump in the creek "he who shall not be named" employer of mine!!! That backfired on you didn't it hehehehe hahahaha

Who I'd like to meet:
The scientist who invented the drug "pregabalin" - this person is a bloody Genius, I have gone from chronic disabling 9/10 pain 24-7, to almost 0 pain 24 hours after starting the drug a little over 2 weeks ago!! I have come off all my other pain meds which did shit anyway except made me drowsy and foggy headed all the time, and now I just take one of these magic pills twice a day. Not cheap at around $80 per month but who the hell gives a flying proverbial, what price can you put on your life?? and all the other tablets probably cost me that much and more anyway!! I'm SO HAPPY!!!
