World Orphans's Interests
General
In the world today, there are over 143 million abandoned or orphaned children. And that number is increasing at a staggering pace.
It is estimated that the current AIDS/HIV crisis orphans more than 35,000 children every single day literally creating a worldwide epidemic of homeless and abandoned children.
Followers of Christ are instructed in Scripture to look after orphans in their distress (James 1:27).
Since 1993, World Orphans has heeded the call of God to help rescue homeless and abandoned children around the world. And God has used World Orphans to meet the physical and spiritual needs of thousands as a result.
Evil in their Hearts. Hate in their Eyes.
As we drove onto the adjoining property of Fountain of Life Church and Children’s Home, we felt a weight upon our souls. Women wearing the full veil were walking down the dusty road. A number of men were loitering in small groups.
We exited the van and made our way through an opening in the corrugated metal fence. A gathering of Somali Muslims were present on the property, walking among the piles of rubble and dirt and taking water from a lone faucet that still stood there. Their distinct features consisted of thin body frames and elongated faces that housed hollow eyes tracking our every move, our every step.
These Somali refugees were brought up in a lawless society where daily conflict and anarchy are the norm. They don’t think of punishment or consequences. The radicalized elements within them don’t hesitate to confront. And they don’t hesitate to maim and kill. They represent the same evil that would shoot an America soldier and then tether his body to a truck in order to drag it through the streets of Mogadishu while crowds come forward to defile it.
They also represent the mob of enraged, drunken Somalis that came at night on December 19, 2006 to destroy and loot Fountain of Life. Armed with knives and other weapons, and backed up by raging bulldozers, they cast the 60 orphaned boys who called Fountain of Life home, onto the wicked streets. It was cold and raining. The boys were traumatized and scared.
On that appalling night, the mob of 50 to 100 men threatened to level the dormitories with the bulldozers while the children were sleeping. And they would have done it, hadn’t Pastor Evans quickly ushered the boys out of their comfortable beds and quiet slumber. Within minutes the bulldozers pounced upon their buildings, claiming everything under their broad plows and iron treads. The boys’ bedside trunks were smashed and rummaged through. Their toys were gone. Their Bibles were taken and discarded or burned.
The mob then led the bulldozers to other nearby Christian properties. Seven churches were destroyed that night.
The grounds of Fountain of Life were now cleared, except for the piles of dirt and the church’s floor tiles that we had purchased and seen laid on a prior trip to Nairobi. The tiles were stacked neatly in a corner in preparation for sale. All other salvageable building materials had long since been looted. Most likely, they were now part of the construction of many shanties in the nearby Mathare Valley slum, a labyrinth that holds over half a million people in poverty and squalor.
As we stood there in shock at the reality of the destruction, our film crew began to capture images of the property. This sparked confrontation. Young Somali men, and a particularly vocal Somali woman, began to yell, push down on the camera, and point to the exit. Others started to flow in through the opening in the fence. Pretty soon, a medium-sized group encircled us, all strongly gesturing for us to leave.
The cameras kept rolling.
We had hired two soldiers for the day. Dressed in full army fatigues and brandishing machine guns, they stayed close to us and interceded as certain individuals became too much of a danger.
Many of the Somalis were infuriated. One man was the chief challenger. Deep, menacing eyes were steeped in hate and anger. A long, pointed nose joined long, pointing fingers shaking with fury. He paced around, incensed of heart and eager to strike us, but prevented from doing so by the soldiers. He boiled over and charged our camera man, Britt. He lunged at the camera and attempted to rip the equipment out of Britt’s hands. Britt held on tightly.
We had been in prayer, and a sense of peace enveloped most of us. We knew that God was present and was ultimately our protector. We also knew that our days were numbered before the foundations of the earth were laid and that God, alone, holds to keys to life and death. Members of the team afterwards stated how they felt the comforting presence and shield of the Father. Of course, the presence of machine guns also helped.
As we left, Britt and I approached the leading Somali contester. Britt directed his loving eyes, tapped his heart, and offered a hand of friendship. I followed suit. The man, previously so enraged, extended his hand in response and shook his head in acceptance and understanding. You could visibly see the anger abate. Britt and I spoke afterwards of how a warm reply cools even the hottest wrath.
God was indeed with us. It could have easily gone so terribly wrong. We saw evil. We saw hate. We felt it. And it was fully directed at us. I had to remind myself later that these radical Muslims are not the enemy…they are simply victims of the enemy.
Besides capturing images that continue to tell the story of what happened to Fountain of Life, our presence served an ever greater purpose. By recording what was presently happening on the property, the clearing of the grounds and selling of materials, we can now prove that the Muslim developers are breaking the orders of a court injunction. In addition, the level of hostility we were met with will show the Kenyan High Court the characters of the men we are dealing with. The video will clearly display the hardened hearts and anger-ridden words and actions of these men.
Great purpose was therefore served by us being inserted into such an incendiary moment. God protected us and we trust that He will use it for his Glory.
…We then left to hug children and AIDS sufferers in the Somali-inhabited slums of the Mathare Valley.

I just finished making two dozen chocolate covered eggs. Chocolate, icing sugar, condensed milk and butter. I can feel my teeth aching and my hips widening just typing it. LOL It's a good thing there is some leftover butter, it may be needed to grease my hips so I can slide into my jeans. hehehhe
I don't drink tea, coffee or colas and I find even the caffeine in chocolate leaves me wired. I eat it anyway. LOL Between, all the sugar and the caffeine it will be a toss up who is doing more hopping around, me or the Easter Bunny.
Wishing you a happy, hopping and sweet Easter.
Lots of Luv!!!

Spring has sprung finally in my neck of the woods. All the snow has left and the spring bulbs will soon be in flower. My oldest cat has finally decided to venture outside. She refuses to go out if there is any visible snow at all. My youngest cat is totally different, he will go out in just about any kind of weather. He stays out a few minutes then paste himself to the screen on the front door, yowling like an abused cat to be let back in.
I was looking for an Easter bonnet. You know the kind with all the frills upon it. hehehehe I came across this one but, I'm not sure I could handle a wheat field and all this activity going on, ontop of my head. Quite honestly, I think I would end up with one heck of a headache. hehehe I may have to settle for something a little less elaborate. LOL
Wishing you an elaborately active week.:):)

I pray we, all children of the earth, no matter our path to enlightenment, come to realize that we are one. We may walk our own paths, but we are not alone, for we walk at the same time, toward the same end/beginning. From our individual perspectives, be we Pagan, Christian, Muslim, Jew, Buddist, Taoist, or Hindu, are the same. I pray that we all feel the love of our Creator(s) and by example learn to see each other as brothers and sisters, allowing the boundary lines of religion to fade away. May the Lord and Lady bless your path. May you always have enough, and may you give enough in return. Blessed Be.
The future is full of promise, Holy Mystery,
if only because we discern your forces of evolution at work everywhere.
Every opening daffodil, every growing child,
every glimmer of human enlightenment, every bodily process of healing -- tells us the future is not fearsome but is full of promise.
Your face is hidden, your name unknown:
still we turn to you in faith and confidence.
Creating Spirit, we hear your comforting voice
in the steady music of the unfolding of creation.
We give thanks to exist,
and to be the joy of your heart.
Amen.
Make me strong in spirit,
Courageous in action,
Gentle of heart,
Let me act in wisdom,
Conquer my fear and doubt,
Discover my own hidden gifts,
Meet others with compassion,
Be a source of healing energies,
And face each day with hope and joy.
This is Imbolc, when the ice begins to melt, the earth begins to soften, and the seed begins to stir in the darkness. Let the small seeds of peace also stir within the hearts of those who have been locked in the ice of fear, anger, and hatred.
As the heat of the sun strengthens and warms the earth, so may the heat of love and compassion strengthen the will and spirits of all of us who strive for peace.
I will strive to soften my impatience, so that my compassion can break free and thrive. Peace is a harvest w
It was a beautiful day here today, still very cold but, nice and bright and sunny. I think mother nature is teasing me in anticipation of spring. We have mountains of snow piled up, I'm afraid if we were to get a quick thaw there would be flooding.
I think I may take a walk along this lovely river path tonight before falling asleep. It will be nice to stop and watch the fish swimming and jumping at the little waterfall. The fragrance from all the flora I'm sure is heavenly. I'm going to stop at that inviting cottage too, I see smoke drifting from the chimney and I just know they are baking delicious chocolate chip cookies. hehehe I'll share with you. I get a few more though because, it's my fantasy. :P hehehe :):)
I wish you a deliciously beautiful week. :):)

We had freezing rain Friday but, it looks a bit better today. The freezing rain combined with the existing snow, I almost needed my ice skates to get to my car. LOL I understand, a good portion of the US is experiencing unpleasant weather, as well.
I'm going to take my imagination and ramble through the woodlands and along the riverbank and see if I can happen upon this beautiful family.
Have a wonderfully rambling week :):)
Lots of Luv!!!
