Since hitting national airwaves and major festivals Wolf & Cub have received huge attention. With reviews like “Wolf & Cub meld every great moment in music ever, into the hottest new thing on the planet” (NME) it appears there is no stopping this four-piece phenomenon.
Only a few years ago four Adelaide guys, Joel Byrne (guitar/vocals), Adam Edwards (drums/percussion), Thomas Mayhew (bass) and Joel Carey (drums/percussion), came together to form Wolf & Cub.
Their pulsating, surging sound, best described by Triple J as “Darkly psychedelic indie dance with two drummers fuelling the rhythms” has excited the music scene worldwide.
“This Mess”, their first single, marked the beginning of an awesome 2 years.
The band have shared stages with huge acts like TV on The Radio, The Killers, The Music, Wolfmother, Queens of the Stone Age, and Death From Above 1979. Plus dominating a bunch of festivals including Big Day Out, Falls Festival & Homebake.
Earlier this year the band toured with Wolfmother, playing blistering sets in Japan, UK and Europe. The band then went back to the UK for a full headling club tour. Wolf & Cub also travelled through New York, Austin Texas for SXSW & LA in 2007. Wolf & Cub have found themselves an enthusiastic international fan base.
Including Kaiser Cheifs who heard Wolf & Cub on BBC radio in London and personally asked them to support their Australian tour.
Vessels, their debut electrifying rock album, was recorded in Adelaide and mixed in Glasgow with legendary producer Tony Doogan (Belle & Sebastian, Mountain Goats and Mogwai).
Signed with dot dot dash in Australia and internationally with 4AD (TV on The Radio, The Pixies, Breeders, Thievery Corporation, Mountain Goats) the band are set.
Scoring an ARIA nomination this year for “Best Independent Album” and playing at this year Pyramid Festival VIC, in typical Wolf & Cub style they are finishing their hectic year off with a bang.
Wolf & Cub are currently in the studio writing for their follow up release… The album is due to be release mid 2008.
