Sounds Like
That's up to you entirely... I've heard Paul Simon, Dave Matthews, Bob Dylan, John Mayer, Leonard Cohen, Damien Rice... but I've also heard that I just sound like Wesley Cook... I like that the best....
"You can see the whole of mankind and much of the world in his music," said a fan of Wesley Cook. Certainly his upbringing in both Germany and Korea have a lot to do with his music, one will immediately appreciate the sound of Wesley Cook. The music itself presents an impressively broad spectrum, ranging from folk to flamenco, blues and gypsy; this range however, pales in comparison to the breadth of lyrical content found floating within the stylings of Cook's guitar. One can tell right away that songwriters such Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, John Lennon and Dave Matthews have left their mark on this talented singer/songwriter. Cook is a natural-born storyteller whose songs are packed with vivid and poignant imagery. The actual guitar work goes from bitter-sweet and rhythmic, to complex and intricate. One thing can be said for sure: no two songs will sound alike. While traveling through this varied album one will stop to find themselves on the streets of Memphis, with blues-infused tracks such as "Tasty Devil Woman" and "How It's Gotta Be", or perhaps sitting in a Barcelona Theater with the Flamenco track "Spanish Dancer". Wherever the music takes the listener, they are sure to find themselves anticipating the next spellbinding song.
In his relatively short time on the music scene, Cook has garnered the admiration and loyal following of critics and fans alike; resulting most recently in a nomination from the 2006 Athens Music Awards for Soloist of the Year. It has been said many times that if one can stand out in Athens, then one has accomplished something, Athens is a city of musical giants to gain recognition is an admirable feat.
In August 2005, Cook began recording his first album "We've Been Here Before" at an Athens-based recording studio, Pigpen, under the direction of Daniel Maldonado Collins as a producer. After many hours spent in the confines of the studio booth, the album was oficially realeased December 1, with the festivities celebrated at Tasty World in Athens, GA. Currently Cook is promoting his debut album with a winter tour through the south east.
Cook is ever grateful for the support and encouragement of his fans.
Thank you to all!!!
