Jim began playing touch-style in 1978. Since that time he has played in too many bands to mention and opened for numerous acts more famous than he, his favorites being Allan Holdsworth, and Herbie Hancock.
In 1995 he discovered Mark Warrs' incredible instruments, and was one of the first to begin using what is called "uncrossed 4ths" tuning in 1998, having been heavily involved in it's development.
He now plays solo, and with the jazz group The Fuzzy Logic Boptet in the Los Angeles area, and often travels to Belgium to teach at E-tap.
Three self-produced CDs are available. "How Did I Get Here?" (a retrospective), "Jazz Heretics" (Jim's first solo project), and "NOW" (from the improv group, LA Abstract).
There will soon be two more CDs. One will be of the jazz group The Fuzzy Logic Boptet, and the other a new album of Jims' original compositions.
In 2000 Jim began working for Warr Guitars, and continues to do so to this day.
Thanks to you more like. I said it in private and now I'll say it in public: Substance over technique! But the bonus is that the technique is still very prevalent. I very much appreciate your composition and the way in which you and the crew bring it to life. Much respect. I'll shall visit this page on a very regular basis. Peace.

Aloha! Jim, I just added a very calm tune to my page, called At The Point Of Stillness, and another surf tune called Bai De Trepasses, hope you like them, love Dave.
Jim, I agree ... it's always nicer to meet in person. I enjoyed getting a chance to meet you at the show, and was very impressed with your playing. All you guys make me want to take a sabbatical from work and lock myself in the room to work on my playing. Sounded fantastic ... enjoyed every minute. Hope to return again in the future.
Yo Jim! You are an ever awesome musician. I now it's older, but "cuckoo's nest"; is tres cool. Perhaps we'll sneak up to Mr T's Bowl and see if you're in the "T" zone, as Mr T himself used to say.
Jim! You're a madman! Hitting brown notes all weekend can't be easy! It was absolutely insane jamming with you for 4 days at NAMM! You're a real gentleman and your positive energy is much appreciated! All the best, talk to you soon.
