Get Rolling to Bowling Green's Interests
|
| General | Where can you find the only place in the world where Corvettes are manufactured,
Kentucky's only underground boat tour, and the most twisted wooden rollercoaster
in seven states? Get Rolling to Bowling Green and find out!
After watching Corvettes roll off the line at GM's Assembly Plant, swing
by the National Corvette Museum and see one-of-a-kind prototypes, racetrack
champions and mint classics. Race over to Beech Bend for their nationally recognized
drag strip, amusement park with over 40 rides and Splash Lagoon water park.
Enjoy a relaxing boat ride in Lost River Cave and walk through a valley dating
back over 10,000 years. | | Music | Did you know Grammy-nominated Rap artists Nappy Roots got their start right here in Bowling Green? Athena Cage, Grammy-nominated R&B artist also called Bowling Green home and was a WKU student. Check back periodically. We plan to feature our local artists. | | Movies | Pretty much any type of movie is good. However, we are huge fans of "Halloween" since John Carpenter is from Bowling Green and many of the sites in his movies are named after actual local places, including Smallhouse Road, Smith's Grove-Warren County Sanitarium and many other streets. | | Television | Actor Michael Rosenbaum who stars as Lex Luthor on Smallville is a graduate of Western Kentucky University. Other locals in the spotlight: Stuart Kirby, former racing car driver (ARCA, Busch Series and Nextel Cup Series) and wife, Niki were on Mtv's 'Til Death Do Us Part reality series. Dan Cherry, retired Brigadier General, is featured on the History Channel's show Dogfights in an episode called "Hell Over Hanoi." You can still catch the episode periodically. | | Books | Perhaps the most notable author from Bowling Green is Duncan Hines... Yes, he's more than a cake mix. Hines would travel the country, reviewing lodging and restaurants and had many books, including "Recommended by Duncan Hines." Another local author, Gary P. West, has taken Hines' idea and written a book "Eating Your Way Across Kentucky." You can pick up a copy at our visitor center! |
