The 1950's thru a 2006 P.A System !!!
Ever thumb through the Want-Advertiser looking for a used automobile and stumble upon those ads with the side note…”great for parts?” Velvet Elvis is just that…the sum of extremely salvageable parts from classic Boston area bands, welded together to create one finely tuned, well oiled Roots Rock/Rockabilly Hot Rod.
Rich Bartlett, of The Fools fame, provides the V-6string engine that gets the audience rockin’ from 0-60 in seemingly zero time. Joe Holiday, bassist for Beatlejuice, provides the low end rumble that quakes through one’s bones as the engine revs. Steve Baker, also of Beatlejuice, is the high octane fuel that juices this vehicle as his fingers fly across the keyboards through each number. Jeff Mate is the mechanic that keeps Velvet Boys greased, timed and ready to roar through 3-plus hours of rock and roll. And finally Jimmy Rogers is the aftermarket flare that customizes the style and energy of what is known as Velvet Elvis…Boston’s Best Tribute to Elvis and the Pioneers of Rock and Roll.
Now if you were expecting a tightly jump-suited, bloated, 70’s, schmaltzy, Elvis impersonator, Vegas-style review, you would be sadly (or gladly, whatever your druthers) mistaken. Velvet Elvis is a pure rock and roll band with a roster of incredible musical pros, high energy fun-riddled stage show with a rapidly growing fan base of swing dancing music aficionados.
Velvet Elvis is Boston's Best Tribute to the Early Days of Rock-n-Roll
This 5 piece band pays homage to the golden-throated, guitar slinging pioneers of
rock-n-roll, focusing on much of the pre-Vegas Elvis era, as well as many of The King's compatriots, like Carl Perkins, Bill Hayley, and Jerry Lee Lewis, to name a few.
Velvet Elvis strives to capture the true detail and feel of a genuine 50's Rock and Roll show. Close your eyes and you'll feel as if you back in a simpler time...although you may not want to close them for fear of missing a few hysterical stage antics.
Velvet Elvis is THE choice for live entertainment within Boston and beyond. Velvet Elvis will remind you how much you love these great old songs.
Ahhh, May is so far away!! I hope to make it to Jazzy Joe's. I liked that place. We almost got smothered by a crazy drunken broad at Beatlejuice. Gotta love it :-)
I'm still giggling dammit..lol We had such a great time last night!! Totally out of control...loved it!! Heheheheheh It was so nice to meet you Joy! And of course it's always a pleasure to chat with Becky and Bev too!!
"Cherish your visions; cherish your ideals; cherish the music that stirs in your heart, the beauty that forms in your mind, the loveliness that drapes your purest thoughts, for out of them will grow delightful conditions, all heavenly environment; of these if you but remain true to them, your world will at last be built.." ~James Allen, 1864-1912, British-born American Essayist, Author of "As a Man Thinketh"
