A message from Travis:
So what do you think of when you hear "Christian"? Well for a second I want you to forget all stereotypes and any kind of preconceived idea when I say... we're Christian.
You see I'm slightly uncomfortable with the term myself, because one day I stood face to face with a man who hated me more than anyone has ever hated me before. He stood there clinching his teeth, doing anything he could to upset me; or set me off.
He was a "Christian" protestor. No, not someone protesting Christianity, but a man who claimed to be a Christian holding a sign at an event we helped with which on one side read "God hates fags - Burn in hell" and on the other was a graphic picture of an aborted baby saying I was a murderer for paying taxes.
Then shortly after I walked away, he started yelling at our audience with a megaphone saying that we're an abomination because of our long hair, body piercings, and tattoos.
I realized then that this is what anyone who wasn't a Christian saw us as. Hate filled idiots, to put it bluntly.
And to be honest, that's NOT how I want to be thought of.
The God I follow says our faith will be recognized because of our love. So thats what I want to do.
I want to show people that Christianity isn't what they think, and isn't what's being represented today by many Christians. To quote Magondi, "I like your Christ, but not your Christians."
I want to be a reflection of Christ and not the stereotypical hypocrite that I'm often branded as.
We aren't here to preach at you, or stick our noses up and think that we're somehow better than you. All we want is for you to know who God is before you make a decision to follow Him or not, and to be your friend no matter what choice you make.
