| About Urch Perch |
|
The Urch Perch was formed in 1967 at the Bluesette in Baltimore when Art Peyton decided to scuttle 2 groups that were struggling ( Blues Inversion & Moss) to form what ended up being one of the Bluesette’s & Baltimore’s favorite groups The original lineup included Robbie Hildreth on vocals, Gil Reinhart on lead guitar, Trevor Martin on guitar, Ken Wolle on drums and Len Jones on Bass. They became the House Band at the Bluesette and when they weren’t playing there they would be in any one of many Teen Centers and events in a 3 State Area. It didn’t take them long to end up in the Best Clubs in Dc, Philly, New York and Los Angeles, including The Ambassador Theater in DC with Canned Heat, The Electric Factory in Philly with Ten Years After, The Cafe Wha,The Bitter End, The Electric Circus and The Whiskey A Go Go. They also packed out events at Towson State, UMBC, The Washington Gallery of Modern Art and Park Plaza. There was a movie filmed of their performance at the Anti- Inaugeration Ball with Phil Ochs, Judy Collins, The Fugs and The Fallen Angels called The Revolution is in Your Head. Their Album "Urch Perch" was recorded by George Massemberg and is available on their website @ http://urchperch.btgmi.net They have been the subject of many TV shows including Weekend on WJZ. They were also seen on WBAL’S Kirby Scott Show and will also be featured in a upcoming documentery about the Bluesette one of the Top Clubs in Baltimore that was instrumental in the carreers of Nils Lofgrin, George Struns, Stewart Smith and many others,The current group has been rockin’ the Bluesette Reunions for 3 years now. Their Lineup consists of Fred Tepper & Pete Wulfirst on Lead Guitar, Ken Wolle on Drums Barry Davis Sr ..s Bruce Aist on Vocals and Jeff Silverman on Bass.
