In a time when most record labels – independent and major – have become driven by the Almighty dollar and no longer substance, comes Uprise Music. Founded by hip-hop/reggae artist Ancient Mind, Uprise represents “good” music that will not be boxed in.
“Our goal is to allow the artist the freedom to be themselves, while making a product and movement the people will enjoy and be a part of for years to come,” explains Ancient. Actions of course speak louder then words, with the current signing of energetic reggae veteran Madi Simmons, up & coming artist Kana, and the independent hip-hop mogul himself.
Since its 2006 Summer-time launch, the label has taken no time in getting that product out there. Originally hosting the debut of East-Coast reggae band Electric Cloud - the album, Dynamic Truth, quickly gained public attention with a release party headlined by none other then the internationally recognized Culture feat. Joseph Hill. Bringing in 2007, the label prepped and also released, “Standing Strong,” by Ancient Mind & Kana. Mixed by Ras James of California sound-system Irie Sounds, Standing Strong is a blazing 19-track document of just what happens when a rapper and reggae crooner come together under the banner of music.
With production from some of the underground’s hottest assistance, and past features from artists such as Mighty Lion, General Smiley, DWI, and Mikey Dread – Uprise is the now of conscious music. Get in line or fall behind!
