Farewell Darkness
Michael returns home to Chicago from Operation Iraqi Freedom with more scars than he left with. The surroundings of his childhood, trigger a series of bad memories of his turbulent childhood. Most of which were suffered at the hands of his alcoholic father, Roman. Reuniting with his girlfriend Rose opens his eyes to the good things in his life. Contrary to his plan to enact revenge on his Father for his Mother's suicide. He must decide, either move forward and live his life with Rose. Nate wakes up to find a sleepless Van, staring into space, chain smoking. On the way home from work Van saw his ex-girlfriend with husband and child. Spinning him into a bout of contemplation and regret. And on the flip side, while out to dinner with his girlfriend Lane, Nate brushes with a life filled with diapers, soccer practice and driver’s permits. The love fest is decimated by Hayden with a tale of unfaithfulness and hot sex bringing the balance back to status. Life moves on, sometimes really, really fast. Can the guys keep up?

I am a DIY filmmaker. I use whatever I can and do whatever I can to make my movies as long as I am not negatively affecting the people and environment around me. I make movies with the intention people will be able to watch them in a free and open format. I do so because I am part of a community and want to be a positive force from within.
I am responsible for every aspect of my film from development, pre-production, production, post-production, and distribution. I do it myself. I am not a cult, underground, experimental, avant-garde, or independent filmmaker. I am a DIY filmmaker.
Who I'd like to meet: The reason I think people who make short films and people who like short films should be looking towards Upressplay.com is because whether you know it or not you are part of a community of people. What Upressplay.com presents is an opportunity to participate in that community to your fullest extent.
The community I am talking about is the DIY filmmaking community. The idea that you dont need wealth or corporate backing to play in this sandbox. Just because you have a short film, doesnt mean you have to let it sit on the shelf. Even after a good festival run a short really doesnt have much of a life span. Being able to put your movie online, for free, with no strings attached, breathes new life into your projects otherwise left for dead.
A DIY community of filmmakers can be more than that though. We have the ability to network, share ideas, and communicate opinions that can help each other and facilitate better films and better filmmakers. Whether you are looking to make something of a high artistic value or highly entertaining, or both. A secret hope of ours is someone can use this to promote their situation and be able to make their livelihood doing something creative and extremely self-satisfying.
