HISTORY: For 40 years the University CIty Arts League ("UCAL") has been a driving force in the enrichment of the University City/West Philadelphia Community. In addition to serving as a noted venue for education, performances and exhibitions, UCAL has also proven to be a valuable collaborative partner with individuals and organizations within the community. UCAL presents workshops, lectures and dance parties which draw participants from all over the Philadelphia region. UCAL serves a diverse population including individuals from underserved communties, minorities, women, the elderly, children, physically challenged individuals and members of the gay and lesbian communities.
Mission: The University City Arts League is a community-based, non-profit organization dedicated to education and cultural enrichment in the arts. UCAL,serves people of all ages from diverse ethnic, geographic and socio-economic backgrounds. Our mission is twofold:
(1) to encourage and support the development of the arts
(2) to provide a venue for people of diverse backgrounds to experience the arts.
