NJS4ever.com
(New Jack Swing)

NJS4ever.com is the first cyber destination to thoroughly pay tribute to the New Jack Swing Era and beyond. It was born

out of a desire to celebrate the unsung heroes of a movement that served as the critical bridge between the plush R&B of the 1980s, and the edgier Hip-Hop/R&B hybrid we enjoy today. Our ongoing mission is to cover New Jack inspired urban music trends from the past, present, and future. In essence, NJS4E is what we proudly call a Pop Culture Purveyor. We deliver the most authentic New Jack-centric experience in existence today through this website, our online forum, our upcoming music compilations, and of course -- our international NJS4E Parties!

MAKER
(The Comeups)

Marco Jacobo (a/k/a Maker) has been a DJ and Producer since the mid 90's has produced for & played alongside a myriad of artists in his career. Maker has released

various Instrumental Limited 7"s and a 7" series called "The Maker Files" (Shake It). In 2003 Maker, Adeem (two time Scribble Jam Champion) and DJ DQ (Animal Crackers) formed Glue (Fat Beats Records) and released "Seconds Away", "Sunset Lodge" and "Catch As Catch Can." Glue has gone on to tour the US multiple times and have shared the stage with Pharcyde, DeLa Soul, Masta Ace, Prince Paul, Little Brother, Mike Relm, and many others. As a DJ, Maker has played alongside many talented DJs such as Pete Rock, Afrika Bambaataa, Steinski, Andy Smith (Portishead), Z-Trip, Peanut Butter Wolf, and Chairman Mao.

INTEL
(The Comeups)

People having a good time is what Intel is all about when he is on the decks. From Mash-ups to Folk to Hip-hop, all genres are covered. He's a guaranteed party starter. Intel got

his start in the 90's watching & listening to Chicago's burgeoning DJ scene, and eventually learned to mix using his brother's turntables. Now you can find him playing records at weekly and monthly parties or even DJing for some of your favorite artists. From Africa Bambaata to Me'shell Ndegéocello, Z-Trip to Lupe Fiasco, Intel can hold his own. He's from the traditional school of "break" DJing, so it's very common to see his name on flyers around the US for premiere breakdancing events. His name is associated with The Platter Pirates, Chicago Tribe, Scion Dashboard, The Comeups, Pugs Atomz, Formula Werks, Hip Hop 2000, Armory Massive & The Dirty 30.

DJ PICKEL
(The Comeups)

If you've been to the Midwest, you've seen DJ Pickel rock the spot. Known for flirting with feel-good genres, Pickel spins everything from Prince and The Cure to the Beastie

Boys & Steely Dan. He has shared the stage with numerous Hip-hop icons, including RUN DMC, Pete Rock, Tone Loc & Brand Nubian. He's worked alongside the industry's newest talents, including everyone from emcees Murs and Lyrics Born to turntablists Z-Trip and Cut Chemist. Pickel got his first set of turntables at age 12, and promptly began recording mixes. He learned to DJ from a family friend, and practiced on his own by watching Kid Capri on Def Comedy Jam. Featured in the Chicago Sun-Times, he has gained the respect of both the media and other DJs for his unconventional record selections. So grab a Pabst, and push the peace.

DJ TREW
(Ground Lift)

DJ TREW is the kind of DJ you wish you saw last weekend. Getting his start doing house parties in the Baltimore/DC area, he transplanted himself onto the Chicago

scene early 1998. The results of which can be seen in his selection, which spans seemingly disparate genres from both coasts. A b-boy at heart, DJ TREW sets include everything from Funk to Electro to Hip-hop to Classic House/Jack to Downtempo and back again. He has shared the spotlight with numerous nationally recognized artists such as The Budos Band, Blu & Exile, DiVinci (of Solillaquists of Sound), DJ Mel, and Ohmega Watts. While not behind the 1s and 2s, TREW runs the online Hip-hop publication Ground Lift Magazine, and has recently been featured in TimeOut Chicago as one of the city's top promoters.
InfluencesThe Rub, Hollertronix, Scottie B, DJ Technics, Switch, Spankrock, James Brown, The Bar Kays, Heavy D, Teddy Riley, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Farley Jackmaster, Chip E, Cajmere, Kool Moe Dee, LL Cool J, Run DMC, The Clipse, Rick Rubin, Issac Hayes, Frankie Beverly, Aretha Franklin, David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, Moodyman, Bucketheads, Loose Joints, ATCQ, Twista, Aaliyah, Ready for the World, Rudy Love, Isley Bros, The Clash, New Order, Liquid Liquid, ESG, Material, Connie Case, Grandmaster Flash, Newcleus, Shannon, Debbie Deb and Bobby Byrd...
Sounds Likea party that you should have checked out by now...

   About UBERJAM
UBERJAM started on a whim when we needed to host out of town DJs during the Pitchfork festival. Since then, it has gained an incredible amount of steam within the target audience (Art school students/grads, HipHop industry types, and eclectic music scene-sters) The basic concept is to unite the all-too-often disparate Chicago Hip-Hop scene, to inject the ‘dance party’ back into Hip-Hop, and to provide a meeting ground for Chicago’s urban art scene. Sponsored in part by Ground Lift Magazine, Formula Werks, and Jugrnaut Clothing, this monthly event series will be held at Subterranean (2011 W. North Ave)

The core DJ crew consists of The Comeups (DJs Intel, Maker, and Pickel) and Ground Lift Magazine (TREW). As separate entities, we all command a large segment of the progressive Hip-Hop, Downtempo, and Dance markets, and as one crew, we unite our followings under one roof for an industry night to end all industry nights. Our inaugural event was a literal ‘who’s who’ of Chicago underground/indie Hip-Hop with attendees like Joey Potts, Jose Garibaldi, Cold Grums, DJ MP, Haiku, Elevation, Midas Wells, and Raistlin to name a few.
