YOU TELL US........SO MANY INFLUENCES WITHIN THE BAND THAT WE CANT PPIN IT DOWN ,,,,WHICH IS A GOOD TING INNIT!!!
video delire
Bio part one.......In the early nineties four of us formed a band called "Gross Injustice" , it was the first band for all of us . me (Doddy) on vocals , Cheryl on drums,Dale(Grimmy) on bass and Boggy an guitar who bought a distortion pedal and only played the top two strings . We supported the UK subs, Sham 69 and the Vibrators , also recording a very weak demo and a half decent live video of us before Dale decided to find fame and fortune in London as an artist . So in came Mick D on bass and Sprog on guitar who could actually play a fucking guitar! We did a few more gigs with this line up once supporting Peter and the Testtube Babies in Manchester (we got payed four cans of beer fer that ..between us!). The demise of this band came at our local , the Courts pub in Blackburn where we did a gig but the landlady
kept uppin the rider for us and some of us were absolutley mashed , to which Sprog couldnt play a fucking note and eventually led to Cheryl throwing her drum sticks down and running into the ladies bogs (boo hoo). And that was that.
Part two.......i dont recall how we formed the next band "Iniquity" but it was me , mick D , Cheryl and Andy Stewart who was a well educated fellow and a bloody good guitarist with a style all of his own , we did a couple of gigs with Blyth Power and Funzig before calling it a day , cant remember why though.
Part three.... I was having a rest from bands when a got a call from Mick D who had been fucking around with a couple of others calling themselves "Mexican Overdrive" , they were after a vocalist so i stepped up.
there was me , Mick D ,Andy Stewart ,Andy (Picky now in tbc)on lead guitar and Martin on drums . We managed to do one gig before Martin left and we drafted in Cheryl to drum.We were mainly organising our own gigs locally and we managed to do a demo "Stoopid" which aint half bad , did a couple of gigs in lancaster for stef , one with Rectify and one supporting Spunge (whos manager didnt like us cos we were too punk....wanker..probably made Spunge look like Busted or summink )and we did a gig with Oi Polloi and External Menace at the Star and Garter, shortly after Picky left due to family commitments and back came Sprog. There were issues in the band and i think Cheryl wanted time out for other stuff so our last gig was at a Manchester picnic so we decided to try and make it a reet good un , Bus Station Loonies were headlining but they had to get back down south and played really early and we were asked to headline , BUT one of the band wanted to get home not saying who but it was probably gonna be past her bedtimenad to top it all off Sprog got that fucking pissed he could tune his guitar and he was trying to do it through massive fucking effects pedal so we though fuck it and downed tools and left the pub , and that was that apart from one re-union for a benefit/memorial gig for a mate of ours who died . Si R.I.P.
So here we are me on vocals , Cardiff Jo on more vocals , MickD on bass , Picky on gutar and Graham ( ex confrontation and filthy lookers ) on drums..all older , all none the fucking wiser.....
REVIEW OF THE DEMO BY THE FUNGAL ONE
TOTAL BLOODY CHAOS - CHAV CENTRAL EP
Packaged in monochrome imagery, blatantly avoiding profound lyrics and boastfully pushing the ‘Do It Yourself’ ethic this is a product that sounds as it is seen. No arty-farty attitude and no pretensions to be ‘different’ Total Bloody Chaos dish out their own concoction of sewer punk and in some way, and quite subtly, pay homage to a noise of yesteryear.
‘Chav Central’ deals with the garbage in today’s society whose sole ambition is to be a bigger dickhead than the next prize prick. It is openly unapologetic punk played by people who are part and parcel of the scene and don’t want to do anything more than keep the whole package dusted with street grime. A good beginning and the classy and emotive ‘Pressured’ follows and is the EP’s best and most cultured moment. The vice-like melodic tension is gradually tightened and the songs consistent momentum is held throughout. Uncannily reminiscent of one of my favourite bands The X-Rippers with its heady inflection and attention retaining vibe. A pom-pom free effort and the modus operandi is held as the bands signature tune ‘Total Bloody Chaos’ is delivered in dirty, basic, boisterous style with an entire unaffected lyric and tune, which I find eases the challenge for the reviewer but also keeps the CD highly playable.
‘No Notice’ rallies the punk defiance and for me compliments all other tracks nicely. Again lacking any extravagance but point must be made of a depth possibly overlooked. I like this kind of piss-basin punk as it truly is the cement of the scene, holding the crowds together as well as being nothing more than just part of.
‘TBC – Unmastered Ruff Version’ brings us to the final fence and is a grand reprise on which to finish. Yeah I like it and there is a plethora of bands out there who should cut the crap and take heed of this simple output approach. Too much technical tweaking and overloaded production isn’t always necessary and evidence of this is found quite smartly here.
