Half Spanish and born into an eccentric, bohemian musician family, Tigs grew up in the sleepy country town of Woodchester.
Inspired by the New York punk of Patti Smith and Television and the tortured poetry of Steven Jesse Bernstein, Tigs dropped out of college and started writing her poetrty, and then songs. At 17 she moved to Bristol crashing on floors picking up the dole.
Through friends she met Dimitri, a French writer/producer and together they started recording a collection of dark, brooding songs. Working both in London and in New York Dimitri, and later her friend Nick Zinner helped her to realise the songs she had in her head. "He's the greatest guitarist of our generation, right along with Ewan".
"We live in an era of flash-in-the-pan bands who will be forgotten next year. I dont want that."
"I want to make smart, literate music," says Tigs, now 24. "I wanted to make a record that was interesting and inspirational and different, for people with brains behind their ears."
Produced by Dimitri Tikovoi (The Ravonettes, The Horrors) & Flood (The Killers, PJ Harvey, U2 to name a few!) Tigs released her 1st single on her own red-ROAR label last year. Its called 'And Again' and was a 1 sided 7". Only 500 were made. It received rave reviews from the underground press and John Kennedy & Steve Lamacq played it having found it in Rough Trade who described 'And Again' as "a smooth and catchy 3 minute ride through 'eat to the beat' era Blondie mixed with the energy of X and a guitar lick straight from The Primitives. It's limited and shows she has a massive future ahead of her.."
The 'And Again' & the 'Something New' video were both shot by Tigs friend, Chris Boyd from Manchester winner of the UK BIG ART Prize, The Priestly Prize & the FACT Microwave Award and described by Brian Sewell as "a genius". Its currently showing at the Tate Modern you can see it online here
Tigs did the NME Club Tour at the end of last year and played dates across the UK - full band and acoustic.
The full album is available through the fanclub and limited 7"s of all tracks will be released over the coming months.
After a band overhaul and some time for regrouping she will be back this summer.
MAY 2007 --- Tigs is currently in the studio writing new material and rehearsing, and will be playing live again in the next 2 months.

Mama Shamone – THESE GUYS AREN’T PLAYING LIVE (except one acoustic) EXCEPT AT GLASTO FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR! http://www. myspace. com/mamashamone “Put Mama Shamone on at any venue and they are likely to take the roof off, this was one of the best live shows I’ve seen in years - certainly one of the best in London. In my opinion these guys are destined for greatness, it felt like I was witnessing history being shaped-something was just so right about what they were doing up there.” Vibe Bar

Hey! How's the weather over there? I just want to let you know that i'm coming to London in late May/early June to play bass with Kevin Montgomery and Tommy Allsup. Tommy played guitar with Buddy Holly, and is THE guy that flipped the coin with Ritchie Valens.....would love to see you at a show? I figured with you being a musician you could appreciate this show. We play the Half Moon Putney. I hope you can come down?
Take care!

Right. Now I got a little window of time to myself! Glad you remember us. Been catching up on your videos on Youtube. Great stuff. Good news about your band stuff. I really wanna come and see you play. I've got a song in mind that I think you'd add a dimension to. It's called 'Don't You Get Ahead Of Yourself'. It's written from two perspectives of a breaking relationship. Simple short and sweet.
Message me your email and I can send you a demo of the music, I've yet to record the vocals, so might try and give you a rough vocal edit. Obviously if you have the time too! I'm going nuts here myself :/
Long time no speak. I haven't forgotten you, though you may have forgotten me. I've been playing 'Something New' at various parties and clubs when I've been DJing. It remains one of my all time favourite songs.
Remember a long while back that I wanted to record a duet of some kind with you, I was wondering if you were still up for it.
aw. thanks. earlier today; my friends were over at my house and we were listening to your music and they totally loved it. i REALLY wish you had a cd out. or have music on itunes. i would put ALL your songs on my ipod.
