Born in an empty storefront in downtown Clearwater, Tides of Man had just 10 days before their first show. They wrote five full songs from scratch, and pulled over 90 kids to their performance at Tampa Bay’s famous Orpheum.
Shortly thereafter, they went into the studio to record an EP, while continuing to play shows across Florida. This highly acclaimed work is now available on iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster, Amazon, and other online music stores.
As if fueled by some common purpose, Tides didn’t stop. They’ve shared the stage with the likes of Automatic Loveletter, The Rise of Science, The White Tie Affair, and Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, all the while getting attention from regional media outlets such as the Tampa Bay Times, and REAX Music Magazine. Here’s what REAX had to say about Tides:
“The introduction of a band like this into central Florida’s music scene is a large part of the reason we do what we do. It’s exciting when acts with talent, vision, and ambition are presented to us. The Tampa scene desperately needs bands of this caliber to thrive if the respect and stability we hope for are to follow.”
- James Ferreira, REAX Issue 24
It is now nearing the end of summer, and Tides of Man has just finished writing their full length album. They are set to record in early September, and they are in the process of planning winter and spring tours. Be on the look out for dates soon.

Josh - Pleased to meet you last night. My apologies about not being able to work something out where you could man the merch table for WWW. Believe me when I say that I've been there in that situation, brother...before I turned 21, there were several shows I would go to just to listen to the band from the outside, even though the sound was greatly reduced and muffled by a wall of bricks. All good things come in time, so hang tight.
Alan - Nice hanging with you after the show last night. Not that you need it or anything, but best of luck in the recording process. I look forward to hearing the new album and if you're trying to tour in support of the new release and come to find that you want to swing through Atlanta, give me a heads up and I'd be more than happy to set something up with you guys. I've got a couple local bands in mind already that would compliment your sound very well and who could pull a strong crowd.
