ps - ali's two cents: many of the people on the above list are musicians that i think are mediocre at best. hernan and i don't get along.
so ali and i met in the summer of '06 at her monthly song circle, a group of friends who lovingly endured my first attempts at songwriting. as time passed and my hands stopped shaking a bit, ali suggested we record some songs. so one weekend in dec 07 we locked ourselves up and started recording. i asked her to add something to each song on the spot. from her very first harmonies, i was hooked. a few weeks later, i returned from a trip to Cuba with a bunch of fidel castro army hats. that was new year's eve and apparently i got drunk and was going around hugging everyone, passing out hats and asking them to join "my sweetheart army". so that's how it all started. i hope you enjoy the songs -hernan
"Charming newcomers Hernan Savastano and Ali Marcus of The Sweetheart Army showcase complimentary he-she vocals blended with subtle acoustic melodies most reminiscent of indie darling duo Mates of State. Savastano’s languid drawl and Marcus’s saccharine-sweet chirp make for a collaboration so lovely that even Seattle’s music connoisseurs/snobs should welcome them with open arms." -- SEATTLE WEEKLY, APR 08
